MIAA Final Four: Find all high school hockey and basketball state semifinal scores here (2024)

At the start of the week, there were64 teams still in the mix for the 16 MIAA high school state championships.

In total, 13 South Shore teams are still alive with six basketball teams and seven hockey teams making up that bunch.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Wednesday, March 16

Div. 1 - BC High 66, Springfield Central 60: Top-seeded BC High (24-0) trailed by 13 after one quarter but rallied as Mike Loughnane poured in 32 points in the win.

Div. 2 - Malden Catholic 86, Scituate 49: The No. 13 Sailors couldn't upset the top seed. Sam Benning scored 12 points in the loss while Keegan Sullivan had 10.

Div. 4 Randolph 80, Wahconah 51:Lenny Tangishaka and Stevens Joacine with 20 points apiece as the Blue Devils advance to thestate final.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tuesday, March 15

Div. 2 -- Oliver Ames 62, Medfield 59 (OT): At Quincy High, Caroline Peper hit four big free throws in OT to lift the third-seeded Tigers (21-3) over No. 2 Medfield (20-4) in the state semifinals. OA will play the winner of Wednesday's semifinal between No. 5 Whitman-Hanson (21-2) and No. 1 Norwood (23-0).

Div. 3 - Rockland 48, Medway 22: At Quincy High, the fourth-seeded Bulldogs (21-3) brushed aside No. 1 Medway (21-4) to advance to the state final against St. Mary’s (Lynn). That will be a rematch of the 2020 EMass final that the Spartans won. Julia Elie had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Sydney Blaney added12 points, andMaddie Hermenau chipped in with 7 points off the bench.

Wednesday, March 16

Div. 2 Norwood 51, Whitman-Hanson 46: The Panthers finish at 21-3.Seniors Megan Stone and Abigail Martin each had 14 points for W-H. Junior Caitlin Leahy added 9, and senior Lauren Dunn chipped in 7.

BOYS HOCKEY

Monday, March 14

Div. 2 - Tewksbury 4, Duxbury 3 (2OT):At Loring Arena in Framingham, Nick Dicioccio's second goal of the net sent Tewksbury to the TD Garden for the state final. Duxbury's Dan Bird scored on a 6-on-4 with 51.7 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. Brendan Bonner and Aiden Harrington scored the other Duxbury goals.

Tuesday, March 15

Div. 1 - SJP 2, BC High 1 (2 OT): At Tsongas Arena in Lowell,Christian Rosa nettedthe winning goal 42 seconds into double-overtime off a fed from Tommy Sarni as top-seeded Prep (21-3) turned away No. 13 BC High (10-13-1) in the semifinals. Senior goalie Jack Burke made 26 saves in the loss, including stopping a penalty shot in OT.

Div. 2 - Canton 6, Gloucester 3: At Tsongas Arena in Lowell, the third-seeded Bulldogs (22-2-1) won their 22nd game in a row to advance to their third straight state final; they will face No. 1 Tewksbury (21-2) on Sunday at TD Garden (time TBA). Sean Connolly and Brennan Pecararo paced the offensive attack with two goals each. Pecararo also had two assists. Gloucester (19-5) was the No. 2 seed.

Div. 3 - Hanover 1, Scituate 0: At Gallo Arena in Bourne,Robbie Hanna scored the lone goal, and junior goaltender Liam Monahan posted a shutoutas the third-seeded Hawks (17-7-1) edged No. 2 Scituate (18-8) to advance to Sunday'sstate final at TD Garden against No. 1 Marlborough (21-1-1).

Div. 4 - Sandwich 3, Norwell 2 (2 OT): At Gallo Arena in Bourne, the top-seeded Clippers (21-2) lost in double-overtime in the state final to No. 4 Sandwich (17-4-3).

GIRLS HOCKEY

Monday, March 14

Div. 2 - Canton 2, Natick 1:The No. 9 Bulldogs (18-6) clinched a spot in Sunday's state final at the TD Garden against No. 10 Algonquin. Anna Lehanhad the game-winning tally while Carolyn Duran played well in net.

Norwood 69, Burlington 66 (OT): Former Braintree girls coach Kristen McDonnell led the No. 7 Mustangs (21-2) to the semifinal win.

St. Mary's (Lynn) 87, Norton 49: The top-seeded Spartans (26-1) rolled to the win.

Watertown 59, TechBoston 50: The No. 2 Raiders (17-7) held off the No. 3 seed.

Saint Joseph Prep 68, Snowden 65: The No. 6 seed (22-1) advanced to the state final.

Paulo Friere 47, Taconic 45: The No. 4 seed (14-7) took down the No. 1 seed (19-5).

Wednesday, March 16

Maynard 66, Baystate Academy 55: The No. 6 seed (24-2) advanced to the state final behind 24 points from Kyle Monahan.

Andover 52, Central Catholic 36: The No. 1 seed (21-1) advances to the state final.

Springfield Central 45, Wachusett 36: No. 3 Central (20-1) handed the No. 2 seed its first loss (23-1).

St. Mary's (Lynn) 63, Bishop Fenwick 62: Niya Morgan scored 23 points for the No. 2 Spartans (24-3).

Millbury 73, Lunenburg 47: The No. 10 seed (19-5) knocked off the No. 3 seed.

Hoosac Valley 72, Taconic 38: The top-seed (21-3) rolled in the win.

Hopedale 58, Springfield International 56: Bri Frongillo hit a pair of free throws in the closing seconds and finished with 31 points for No. 3 Hopedale (21-2).

Watertown 4, Stoneham 3:Mason Andrade tallied the winning goal for No. 2 Watertown (14-9-1). Watertown will played the winner of Norwell and Sandwich at the TD Garden on Sunday.

Arlington 2, Shrewsbury 1: The No. 2 seed (22-1-1) advances to the TD Garden on Sunday.

Austin Prep 5, Acton-Boxboro 1: The No. 1 Cougars (26-0) scored four goals in the third period.

Monday, March 14

Algonquin 3, Medfield 2 (OT): Emily Johns scored the winning goal in overtime to lift the No. 10 seed (18-3-2) to a spot in the state final.

- All basketball games are scheduled to be played at Tsongas on Friday (2 games), Saturday (4) and Sunday (4). All hockey games are slated to be played at the TD Garden on Sunday.
