Why do my posts keep getting flagged on Craigslist? ›

To avoid Craigslist ads getting flagged, make sure that your content is unique and original while complying with the website's Terms of Use. For example, in many cases, using images or logos owned by other companies or persons may cause your listing to be removed from the website due to copyright infringement.

Many of the scams start with a generic inquiry asking if the item is still available or if you are the original owner. The reason for this is to quickly test to see if the seller is responsive. There's generally no mention of the item you're selling or any questions specific to the item.

Click the "delete" link beside the posting title on your account page, or the delete button above your posting on the posting's display page. Clicking the "delete" link removes the posting from the craigslist site. Time spent deleted counts towards a posting's lifespan.

Can I Find Out Who Flagged My Craigslist Post? No. While you cannot figure out who exactly flagged your Craigslist post, it is still possible to edit your ad to align itself with Craigslist's Terms of Use to get it live again.

Craigslist uses email obfuscation to protect your actual email address from exposure. When you click on the response button in the Craigslist ad, the site generates for you a Craigslist email address. When the other user responds to your message using this address, you receive the message into your real email address.

Craigslist provides a "cover" email address that is forwarded to the recipient's actual email address. Only Craigslist knows the real email addresses of both parties. This way, if one of the people involved turns out to be untrustworthy, they don't have the other person's email address.

Unfortunately, no such protection exists for those replying to posts. When you reply directly from Craigslist, your email address will be visible to the recipient. To reply anonymously, you need to create a free Web-based email address, which does not contain identifiable information.

Since the process is automatic, you might get banned when you post too many ads in a day, or send too many connections to Craigslist from a single device. This means that if you are using Craigslist for your business, you are risking your livelihood by being too active!

Because Craigslist posts expire automatically after 7-45 days (depending on the region and type of post), it can be tricky to track down a post if it's been a while.

Removal of Free Classified Ads

If your post was removed, enough people flagged it to trigger the system. This does not mean that your account has been disabled or compromised. If you believe it was removed by mistake, repost it but reword it appropriately so that it will not be flagged again.

Reason #1 – Posting Too Much

Craigslist states that “you may post to one category and in one city, no more than once every 48 hours.” So, if you attempt to post too many ads in a day or post the same ad multiple times, it's going to trigger Craigslist to remove them and block your IP address.

Flagging keeps unwanted content out of your community. If a community member makes a post that does not fit the Community or is considered inappropriate, the post can be marked as flagged.

craigslist does not document the number of flags required for removal, but it has been implied to be a highly variable number that can range between few handfuls and many thousands, depending on a wide variety of factors that are not disclosed. Note that only ONE flag per reader is counted.
